STILL ON THE FIGHT FOR JUSTICE AND EQUITY

Image
On Saturday the 27th of October 2018, several immigrants accompanied with lots of italian citizen including the president of "Babele association" came out in group for a peaceful manifestation regarding the newly signed and enforced decree of Salvini. It was saddened to see that only a microscopic few out of the thousands of immigrants likely to be affected by the new decree showed concern by participating. Others, for reasons best known to them choose instead to ignore and exclude themselves. " Peccato " as Italians will say.......... It's obvious that lots of these people who excluded themselves doesn't really understand the full concept of the newly signed decree. So I want to take this time out to highlight some  consequences of the decree for those who wish to know. 1 . In line with the new decree, Resident permit would not be issued again to immigrants. CONSEQUENCES .. *You won't be able to legally rent a house. *You won't be able to ev...

Image
Like Torino, Bologna City Council have also approved an agenda to request the suspension of the application of the immigration and security decree, to reassess its impact in economic, social and territorial security terms. The agenda is the synthesis between the proposal of the Civic Coalition, presented by Federico Martelloni and also signed by the mixed group, and that of the Democratic Party presented by the councilor Andrea Colombo (Democratic Party) and also signed by the City Municipality group. It was approved with 23 votes in favor (Mayor, Democratic Party, Common City, Civic Coalition and Mixed Group), 6 votes against (Lega Nord, Forza Italia, Insieme Bologna) and 2 non-voting (Movimento 5 stelle) Bologna will not abdicate the model of the widespread integration of the SPRAR because it is and will always remain the city of the arcades. The suspension requested by the City Council of Bologna is the prize with what happened in Torino a few days ago. Only that, unlike Torino, wh...

IMMIGRATION AND SECURITY, TORINO"SUSPENDS" THE SALVINI DECREE

Image
The City Council of Torino says no to the "immigration and security decree" by Matteo Salvini. With 30 votes in favor and only two against, the Red Room yesterday approved an agenda presented by Elide Tisi (Democratic Party) on the decree inviting the junta to ask the Ministry of the Interior and the Government to "suspend transitory way up to the end of the parliamentary procedure "the effects of the application of the Salvini Law Decree and to open a dialogue with Torino and other large cities to assess the concrete effects of the measure in economic, social and security terms of the territories. What's more, on the agenda it is stated black and white that with the approval of the Decree the efforts made to achieve a balanced distribution of the people accepted throughout the regional territory and the work done by the Sprar will be thwarted. With the new legislative provision the strong concentration of people will be favored in the large reception centers a...

Humanitarian permits update: New 2-year permits are delayed

Image
In the past few weeks, there has been lots of questions about the Salvini Decree and how it is affecting the release of new humanitarian permits in Italy. Legal experts from ASGI, the Association for Juridical Studies on Migration, has been contacted about what’s happening. The short answer : Right now, there is an issue with the computer systems that print permessi di soggiorno at questure (police stations) around Italy. If the Commission told you before October 5, 2018, that you’ll receive humanitarian protection, but you haven’t yet received the physical permesso di soggiorno, you will still receive a permesso that is valid for 2 years. But you might need to wait longer than usual to get it. How has the Salvini Decree affected humanitarian protection so far? Although the Salvini Decree is not yet a law, it came into effect on October 5, 2018. (Note: Parliament now has until December 3, 2018, to make changes to the decree before making it a law.) As part of the...

A 22 year old hanged himself in Castellaneta Marina (Taranto). The association Babele points finger at Italy: "They denied him political asylum"

Image
He took his life hanging himself from the cornice of the house in Castellaneta Marina (Taranto) where he lived together with two connazonals. But now the association Babele points the finger to Italy's decision not to grant political asylum to Amadou Jawo, 22, of Gambia. At the time of his arrival in our country - two years - he had been taken to a facility of first reception in Lecce and then he moved to the town of Puglia. A few days ago the residence permit had expired "He could not stay in Italy any more", says the association, "He wanted to go back to Africa, but he feared to be held up as a failure and was ashamed ... He thought he had no choice". Now the NGO has decided to launch a subscription to raise funds to bring back the body in the village of Gambia where he lived. "In a few days, about 5 thousand euros are needed to pay the funeral agency that deals with the move,"

Before our eyes, Italy is becoming a fascist state

Image
Those whom the Gods wish to destroy they first make mad. So the old saying goes, and, if so, then the outlook for Italy is grim indeed. For Italy today, almost a century on from Mussolini’s March on Rome, has installed in its capital a government that makes the buffoonish Benito look the very model of statesmanship. It is pursuing policies that are not simply neo-fascistic and cruel, though they are certainly that, but crazy with it. The latest eccentric proposal from the interior and deputy prime minister, Matteo Salvini, is to make “ethnic” shops close at 9pm. This is because, in his view, some premises, “almost all managed by foreign citizens”, had “become the haunt of drunks and drug dealers” in the evening. What’s more, Salvini, who is becoming world-famous as a sort of mini-me Donald Trump, adds that such shops were full of “people who drink beer, whiskey until three in the morning” and who “piss a...
